Description
This book traces the history and significance of hemp in the various medical systems and teachings and provides a wealth of practical applications and recipes.
Hemp has been used culturally as a source of fiber, food and stimulant for at least 6000 years, but its versatile medicinal qualities were also discovered early on. It had a firm place in Pharaonic, Assyrian, ancient, Islamic and medieval medicine. In Chinese and Tibetan medicine, its euphoric, antidepressant properties are valued, while in Ayurveda it is praised as a panacea and aphrodisiac. But our Germanic-Celtic ancestors also used the plant medicinally. Hildegard von Bingen used them, as did Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy.
In modern medical and pharmacological research, the earlier and ethnobotanical applications of the hemp plant are now being tested and largely confirmed. With a foreword by Dr. med. Franjo Grotenhermen.
