It is essential to acknowledge the history behind them and draw the necessary conclusions. For this way of thinking has no place in today\u2019s legislation. The century-long ban was never intended to protect public health, but rather to suppress foreign cultures. Neither the UN Single Conventions of 1961 and 1988 nor the EU Framework Decision of 2004, that criminalize cannabis use and trade are based on scientific evidence; rather, they are based on false information, economic calculations, racism, and, to this day, the legacy of Nazi ideology. Documenting this background is a matter close to the author\u2019s heart.
