It had a firm place in Pharaonic, Assyrian, ancient, Islamic and medieval medicine. In Chinese and Tibetan medicine, its euphoric, antidepressant properties are valued, while in Ayurveda it is praised as a panacea and aphrodisiac. But our Germanic-Celtic ancestors also used the plant medicinally. Hildegard von Bingen used them, as did Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy.<br \/>\nIn modern medical and pharmacological research, the earlier and ethnobotanical applications of the hemp plant are now being tested and largely confirmed.
