CBD and competitive sports (part 2): Experiences of an extreme athlete

Posted on

For more basic knowledge on the topic of “CBD and competitive sports”, we recommend reading the 1st part of our series on CBD in sports: CBD and competitive sports (Part1): What’s behind it?

We at Herba di Berna wanted to generate our own empirical values for the topic of CBD and sports, which is why we approached the aspiring trail runner Michael.

He tested a Broad Spectrum oil for us for several months during his training phase and now tells us about his experience.

Interview with Michael: Experiences from competitive sports

Dear Michael, thank you for supporting this experiment and daring to try it yourself.
You are very conscious of sensible consumption, especially because your athletic performance is at stake. Is this how you also came across CBD oil as a natural doping?

For me, meaningful consumption is very central. Not only in terms of athletic performance, but also for the environment and animals. For this reason, I have been eating a vegan diet for years and always keep my eyes open for ways to maximize my performance without harming fellow humans, animals or nature. This interest has also made me aware of CBD products.

What was your expectation or hope with taking CBD oil?

I hoped that I would be able to recover even better and thus be fresher for the upcoming units. In addition, I had the idea that the CBD oil may even have a preventive effect against minor injuries. In many cases, overuse injuries start with a small inflammation that intensifies with further stress. Avoiding these small inflammations with the consumption of CBD oil and the necessary rest would obviously be a big plus.

You have been taking Broad Spectrum CBD oil for us for over three months. What has made itself felt?

I have already felt various positive effects in the relatively short time.
During a training volume increase, for example, from 90 running kilometers one week to 100 running kilometers the next, I often felt the periosteum on my shin a bit, this was not the case during the CBD drop experiment.
In addition, I was able to focus even better during the more monotonous workouts, such as weight training, as long as I took 3-4 drops immediately before the workout. Quite apart from the positive effects on training, I really like the taste of the drops, whether in coffee, muesli or pure.

Only those who are well rested can also perform well

Michael, trail runner

What would you say, did the CBD oil have more of a positive impact on your performance or your recovery? Or even both?

Both. It is certainly primarily regenerative as it has an anti-inflammatory and calming effect. Due to the good recovery and because the oil, at least in my case, had increased the focus on the essentials, the CBD drops certainly increased the performance.
Only those who are well rested can also perform well.

Would you recommend Broad Spectrum CBD oil to other exercisers or competitive athletes:inside?

Yes, after this experiment I definitely recommend CBD oil. I also recommend the drops to people who are perhaps not so active in sports, because the increase in focus has already impressed me quite a bit.

Are you also a movement person or athlete:in and would like to share an experience with the same interview questions? We allocate some 6% Broadsprectrum CBD oils for it. Get in touch via email: info@herbadiberna.ch

Rêves sûrs – An emergency shelter for young people

Posted on

The association“Rêves sûrs – Safe Dreams” wants to offer young people a safe roof over their heads. Behind this project are people who come from the field of open youth work and alley assistance. For them, it is clear that Bern lacks an emergency sleeping facility for young people. Although there are emergency sleeping facilities, some of which could in theory be used by young people, in practice the hurdles are often too high. That is why a supervised and yet low-threshold emergency sleeping center is needed.
Instead of young people staying in public spaces, unsafe places, or even with untrustworthy people, they need to be able to go to a safe place voluntarily and free of charge. In such a safe place, people’s basic needs are met and specialized personnel provide professional support. No one is forced to claim an offer, but all should have the opportunity to do so. Safe dreams should be in it for everyone.

Currently, a crowdfunding for the youth shelter is underway to secure funding for the first year of the pilot project. We as Herba di Berna AG were asked if we could support this crowdfunding. We are very happy to do so, as we are convinced that the Rêves sûrs association will do an excellent job, which starts at an incredibly important point in the lives of the people concerned.
Concretely, this means for us: On the one hand, we want to draw attention to this wonderful project with this blog post and on the other hand, we have supported the crowdfunding in the form of “goodies”. With a contribution of 50 francs there is a small Merci from our cultivation.

We firmly hope that we can contribute to the success of this project. Support this project, enjoy the small Merci as well as the good feeling, stand by your commitment, tell other people about this project and support the association in the social media, e.g. by following the Facebook account of “Rêves Sûrs”. Here’s to a Christmas season of solidarity for the benefit of all.

Where our products are refined

The cooperation between us and the workshops of VEBO in Grenchen and the Oberwald Center from Solothurn means a lot to us. We are happy to stand by this successful cooperation and would like to show what it looks like in this blog post. At the Oberwald center, our products are refined and the packaging is labeled, while VEBO’s workshop takes care of filling, sticking and welding all our blossoms.

The two institutions VEBO and Zentrum Oberwald offer people with a physical or mental impairment a protected working environment. Our orders involve the finishing and packaging of products, which are then put on the market for commercial sale. For people from the workshops, who often find themselves in a difficult life situation, this enables them to participate in an important sector of our social life.
When we have our products prepared for sale by these workshops, we are entering into a business relationship that is about more than just profitability. With every order we can make a small contribution so that the people in the workshops can engage in meaningful and varied activities. Knowing this, it is not a problem for us that not every single product is perfectly packaged or glued, even if this means that we sometimes have to do some touching up ourselves. In our eyes, such organizations are very worthy of support, and especially in a time of chasing crises, we are very happy to continue this partnership.

For you, our customers, this means: If the label on your next purchase is not quite straight on the packaging, this is no reason to get upset. It is much more a sign of the humanity with which our products are provided.

Historic decision of the UN and the European Court of Justice

UN complies with WHO recommendation to reassess cannabis classification

Two positive decisions on cannabis bode well for international cannabis policy.

European Court of Justice: CBD is not a narcotic drug

After we reported last time that the EU Commission is considering making all hemp extracts – including natural CBD products – subject to narcotics law, a decision by the European Court of Justice now lets us breathe a sigh of relief. The ECJ informed that a member state of the European Union may not prohibit the marketing of cannabidiol (CBD) lawfully produced in another member state if it is extracted from the whole cannabis sativa plant and not only from its fibers and seeds. The court thus follows the WHO recommendation that CBD should not be classified as a drug for the purposes of international narcotics conventions.

However, the really big bang that could make history came from the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) in Vienna on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020. UN Commission agrees to re-evaluate cannabis! This can contribute significantly to simplifying the legal handling of cannabis worldwide. The Commission is thus complying with the WHO recommendation that cannabis no longer be classified as a dangerous drug. Under international treaties such as the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, cannabis has previously been listed on Schedule 4 – with the adoption of WHO Recommendation 5.1, cannabis will now be downgraded to Schedule 1.
